Bearing is so polluter in all kinds of machines,we could say all the running machines could not work without a normal bearing.The bearing in motorcycles is a key component.for various bearing,its usage is much different.

Front wheel and camshaft and partial transmission gear axles using needle roller bearing.Normally,under 100cc motorcycles its bearing size as below:front wheel:6200 6201 6300 6301.And back wheel of motorcycles using 6202.6302.
Firstly ,all kind of bearings durable is different,ball bearing is on top durable.Therefore motorcycle bearing camshaft bearing,the chief axle and secondary axle and front and back wheel using ball bearing,because of its strong impact resistance,easy for gear grease,even no excess abrasion affect without any grease lubrication within some seconds.
Both ends of motorcycle bearing chief axle and secondary axle prefer ball bearing as the most durable,for example Tianjin HONDA 90 motors,with low failure rate,big repair due to bearing broken is rare.The main success is professional design,bearing match solution scientifically
Therefore,ball bearing is s polular among all kinds of mechanical factories,and never be replaced.As for needle roller bearing also has its advantage,like its tiny and tight,using in small space transmission,for example,in camshaft needle roller bearing,like double stoke motorcycles,C100 secondary small end using needle roller bearing,GY6 motorcycles back wheel output needle roller bearing, double stroke push scooter using sprag clutch bearing matching needle roller bearing,these position using bearings are irreplaceable,due to the components and machine space is rare limited.Especially,super thin washer needle roller bearing on AX100 speed gear axle,highlight those bearing unique function,not only act as a washer to adjust the space also solve the movement between gears.
However,needle roller bearing have bad durable,especially on double stoke motorcycle camshaft ends needle roller bearings,it is very easy to have locking up if the lubrication is a little bad. Bush made of bronze instead of bearing,has the worse durable.For example, on FXD125 cylinder end camshaft axle right side bush,with bad lubrication,very easy to be broken and difficult to repair,only go to change the cylinder end adding repair expense.
?Secondly,bearings has its own advantage on reducing noise in each position of components combination.For example,bush instead of bearing,combined softly,small noise,so bush is still popular in the usage of motorcycles. Like C100 secondary axle small end,DX camshaft small end,and others like multiple air cylinder camshaft small end,all using bush to instead of bearing,good efficiency.
Thirdly,bearings has various impact resistance ability. Bearings using in motorcyles,some key position requires impact resistance ability definitely.
For,the two sets of press bearing on direction column,ball bearings have best durable.When motorcycles working on rough road,the pressure bearing is the most easily to be broken,ball bearing is the ideal usage,and then needle roller bearing.
However inside the speed change system (gear box),the chief axle and secondary axle ball bearing still the best choice and the most durable,then needle roller bearings,the bush is the last.
Some repair technician using bush instead of camshaft small end needle roller bearing,mainly consider bush works well on noise reduction.What is worse,such matching using on chief and secondary axle,this is not workable,because gear system has torque and output power,soft bush wont be competent.
Install and dismantle knowledge
1,auto wheel hub unit,or motorcycle wheel hub bearing.
Usually in auto transmission work,bearings fault is common and unavoidable.
It is easily to dismantle the bearing when there is a small loose. Until the bearing cage broken,crack and fall apart,in this situation bearings inner and outer rings are separately,it is more difficult to dismantle.
A tips: welding a smaller size bearing on the outer ring,after cooling down,to using a hammer work with a steel plate.Steel bearing outer ring inside the Aluminum wheel is easily to dismantle after heat the wheel hub.
Don’t be too rude operate,because most wheel hub is made from aluminum material,
It would make the wheel hub crack and broken without any protect measurement, like rude knocking or hitting.When install bearing on this position should be very careful.
Tips:to get rid of dirty dust and rust,using sand paper to polish the bearing housing;
Lubricating bearing outer ring suitable quantity,and put a wood plain plate above the bearing and knock it in gentle until reach the position.This position bearing is whole sealing,put enough grease before installation.Two steel bush between the two bearings should not be missed,or the bearing would be broken easily.
2,engine needle roller bearing.
The most headache to a repair technician is the outer rings of a needle roller bearing after serious abrade which only left very thin rings inside the engine body.It is not easy to take away without special tool.At such situation,need to weld a steel plate onto this ring until cool down then knock off.
To wash the bearing housing thoroughgoing,the new needle roller bearings need to be knock inside by a help tool of bronze bar gently with small force,to avoid broken the new bearing.To check it movement smooth and flexible then finished.
Second stoke motorcycles because of design defect and lubrication fault would result to two end bearing easy work in failure,very trouble to replace the bearings.
